Halloween Decorations Beginning

halloween-decorations-witch2

This is one of the first major Halloween decorations I ever created. It was simple, but in the dark it proved very effective. I used an air compressor to squeeze air through a 1/16 size hole into an open-topped bucket of mineral oil. This not only created a cauldron-like bubbling sound effect, but it also generated the thick smoke. I placed green spot lights at the bottom of the barrel to add color. The witch is just a simple costume on a hanger.

The skull was hung by some fishing line and tied to the door so that it would come in and out of the cauldron as the door is opened and closed. Not bad for my first Halloween prop.

Other Halloween Decorations

skeleton

Paper mache fleshy skeleton (we slow-roasted this guy on a huge fake fire spit).

spider

Giant spider that dropped down the wall next to the front door on a pully. This one got all the kids (and parents) really good. We had to operate this one manually in the bushes down below the porch. It helped to have a good flashlight.

mummy

Mummy

hangman

Hangman with pneumatic cylinder to activate kicking motion. Someone called the police on us because they thought this was real.

zombie

Pop up zombie on a pneumatic system.
